We are seeking volunteer participants from grades 6 - 12 for a week-long research project to learn more about the air quality youth and their families are exposed to on a daily basis. If you and a student are interested, please fill out an Interest Form and we will get back to you soon with more details!
Cash incentives for participants.
We want to understand the amount of pollution an individual is exposed to during their day to day life.
To do so, participants will wear a small air monitor called Advanced Particle Technology or A.P.T. This is a wearable exposure monitoring unit that provides real-time measurements of PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 mass concentrations. By wearing it everyday for a week, (going to school, work, etc) we are able to understand the average pollution that individuals in our Colton community are exposed to.
The journals help us understand pollution issues that technology cannot explain! Did the bad air quality cause lung irritation? Did you have trouble focusing? Were there too many diesel trucks on your way to work? All these are potentially tied to air pollution and the air we breathe.
